Wikipedia Article, College Knowledge, Chris Yeh

I'm calling out this blog post to Adam Jaffe because he's the Wikipedia master (or, well, I know he's one of my friends that reads on Wikipedia a lot). How do you get an article you write to "stick" on Wikipedia? I tried writing an article about College Knowledge as a test for writing a bio on Chris Yeh... and it got rejected as spam! I just took what we wrote on our About page and then linked to it so that it would have a source. Thoughts/advice anyone?

The Wikipedia Master says:

There's no way you'll get an article about CK to stick, since it will be considered an advertisement for the service, and nothing will get deleted faster than advertisements.
Read their "notability guidelines"--basically, to keep an article from being speedily deleted, you have to prove that it's about something "notable," meaning that an outside source has written a piece on it, etc. etc.

Maybe in a couple years when CK is a huge, multinational corporation, it will finally win its wikipedia article.

In the world of online gaming, not all games are the same quality. There are high end games available that carry an equally high price tag and there are bargain basement games that would put even small children to sleep. Use the advice in this article to separate the wheat from the chaff in the online game world.

Buying the best playstation for your gaming preferences can be touch. Think about what you like in a gaming system and find the ps3 that best suits your needs. Research the gaming systems on the Internet. Check out reviews from other gamers, too. Before purchasing a system, educate yourself.

Auctions on the Internet are a great place to buy games from. You can save a lot on video games by purchasing them on auction sites. Conduct some searches to fund the best possible deals. After that, just keep on bidding.

Before you allow your children to play a online game, ensure you understand its rating. Some games have violent content and are meant for people that are over 18. Violence can give your children the wrong values, which may show later in life. Try to refrain from computer games that promote violence for your children's sake.

If you come across a difficult game that is causing you to feel frustrated, it is a good idea to put it aside for awhile and return to it later. If you're not playing particularly well, try switching to another game to avoid frustration. Avoid frustration as it can negate the positive aspects of gaming.

Parents must always verify the ratings on games. A lot of games look like they are okay for kids, but they are not. It's important to not only check the rating, but also the actual objectionable material (e.g. language, suggestive themes) that caused it to get that rating.

Never clean your system, no matter the age, with strong cleaners. Lightly blowing can help to remove dust, and this is often all it takes to get things up and running. You can destroy your playstation if you use harsh chemicals on it.

It's best to try out a game alone first. There is no point playing a game online if you are having trouble playing the traditional version! If the game is too hard, trade it and get something you prefer. It is time to find a new game if you are getting frustrated and do not have fun anymore.

The PS2 is 12 years old and kind of outdated, but the one thing it has going for it is that it is very cheap. The games for this system are about half the prices of Xbox and PS3 games. There are also many more games available.

If possible, try games out before you buy them at your local library. Most public libraries offer video gaming that can be checked out for free. The library usually has game titles for all different systems, so simply call ahead and see if they have the title you want.

Figure out how to operate the safety and parental controls of any gaming system that comes into your home. You can likely make adjustments that keep kids from viewing mature content. Some allow each gaming profile to be customized separately, allowing adults to enjoy games not meant for younger audiences.

Kicking back and relaxing with your favorite online game is a great way to relax and have fun, but they offer so much more above and beyond the fun factor. What you've read here will ensure your gaming time is well spent.
